Versa SD-WAN and SD-Security Solutions Validated to Run on Wind River Titanium Server

Santa Clara, Calif.,October 10, 2016

Versa Networks, a leading provider of software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN) and software-defined security (SD-Security) solutions for service providers and enterprises, today announced that the company has broadened its software-based SD-WAN ecosystem through a technology collaboration with Wind River. Wind River, a global leader in delivering software for the Internet of Things (IoT), has validated Versa Networks SD-WAN and SD-Security to run on its Wind River Titanium Server, a commercial ready network functions virtualization (NFV) infrastructure software platform. Additionally, Wind River has become a new member of Versa’s Open SD-WAN Ecosystem.

“By validating and pre-integrating Versa’s software-based SD-WAN and SD-Security with Titanium Server, service providers can deliver carrier grade NFV-based optimized solutions,” said Kumar Mehta, CEO and co-founder of Versa Networks. “Service providers can confidently select Titanium Server as a platform to deliver highly reliable Versa solutions.”

Versa performed its testing and validation process as part of the Wind River Titanium Cloud ecosystem program, which is dedicated to accelerating the deployment of solutions for NFV. Through the collaboration of industry-leading software and hardware companies, the Titanium Cloud ecosystem ensures the availability of interoperable standard products optimized for NFV deployment with Titanium Server to help accelerate time-to-market for service providers and telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs).

Today’s announcement further bolsters Versa’s Open SD-WAN Ecosystem. In September, the company announced that customer premises equipment (CPE) leaders Advantech, Silicom, and Lanner became validated Versa ecosystem partners, paving the way towards a truly open and software-based solution for SD-WAN that eliminates the need for expensive proprietary hardware.

“Service providers are looking for validated and market-ready end-to-end NFV solutions. To address this need, collaboration across the ecosystem is essential,” said Charlie Ashton, senior director of business development for networking solutions at Wind River. “By collaborating with Versa Networks and validating their SD-WAN and SD-Security platform with our Titanium Cloud program, we are able to deliver interoperable solutions for service providers and TEMs who are deploying NFV in their networks. Titanium Server provides a foundation for Carrier Grade NFV infrastructure, and by leveraging other pre-validated NFV elements, service providers can quickly achieve their goals such as reducing OPEX while accelerating the introduction of new high-value services.”

Titanium Server is a carrier grade NFV infrastructure software solution that is designed to meet the stringent “always on” requirements of the telecom industry. With Titanium Server as the NFV infrastructure software foundation, the telecom industry can take full advantage of rapid service deployment while ensuring the Carrier Grade uptime and strict reliability mandated by telecom networks. Titanium Server is based on open software standards including carrier grade Wind River Linux, real-time Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM), carrier grade plugins for OpenStack®, Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK), and accelerated virtual switching, all optimized for Intel architecture platforms.
