Current Analysis Rates Versa Networks’ SD-WAN as “Strong” in Market Update Report

Research Says SD-WAN Solution of Versa FlexVNF, Director and Analytics “Is Versatile and Supports Multi-Tenancy in the Branch, vCPE and Controller, Making It Particularly Useful”
Santa Clara, Calif., February 16, 2016

Versa Networks, a networking and security startup providing next-generation WAN and branch solutions for service providers and enterprises, today announced that industry analyst firm Current Analysis has awarded the Versa SD-WAN solution with a “Strong” rating. The new report, “SD-WAN 2015 Market Update: Vendor Snapshots Show a Crowded, Competitive Field Attempting to Diversify,” says, “All of (Versa Networks) virtual network functions, such as SD-WAN, vCPE and branch security are components that can be deployed centrally to the provider edge or on-premises as needed. And are ideally suited for service providers and enterprises alike.” Out of the 10 vendors spotlighted in the report, Versa Networks was the only software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) and virtualized NGFW/UTM company to merit a “Strong” rating. The full report can be downloaded here: http://versanetworks.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/SD-WAN-Market-Advisory-Report-Dec.-2015.pdf

In a summary statement, report author and Current Analysis principal analyst Mike Fratto wrote, “The SD-WAN market is becoming quite crowded with ten vendors, many startups, shipping products and more entering the space. The biggest issue facing any vendor offering SD-WAN products is differentiating from competitors. Every SD-WAN vendor emphasizes ease of use compared to alternatives, such as VPNs and dynamic routing protocols, dynamic path control to optimize traffic among two or more WAN connections and application classification in order to monitor performance and meet service level agreements (SLAs) using policy-based management, which simplifies daily operations.”

“We are honored to be recognized by Current Analysis as a ‘Strong’ vendor in the SD-WAN space,” said Mark Weiner, CMO at Versa Networks. “This report validates the SD-WAN traction we’re seeing in the marketplace, and we expect to grow our company, products and enabled services even faster as service providers and distributed enterprises begin adding our virtualized security functions like next-generation firewalls (NGFWs) and malware protection to their SD-WAN designs.”

Noted Competitive Strengths

Unlike its competitors, Versa key strengths, as referenced in the report, include:

  • An architecture that is versatile and supports multi-tenancy in the branch, vCPE and controller, making it particularly useful for service providers and enterprises alike
  • An emphases on rich integration capabilities using standardized protocols between nodes and REST APIs for integration with systems such as OSS/BSS, NFV orchestration and cloud management
  • Versa Director, which can integrate with a number of SDN products, such as OpenDaylight, OpenStack, Nuage Networks and VMware’s NSX and vCloud Director
  • Performance monitoring that uses probes and passive analysis to manage performance
